[2023] Fall Bucket List: Scary Movie Night #4

Tonight will be the last movie night we celebrate as a family this year. Hard to believe that October has flown buy so quickly and we are only three days away from November. Sadly my little family will all be spending the holiday working so we won’t all be together. Halloween night I’m going to curl up and watch the movies the guys weren’t really interested in seeing. Of course that’s Hocus Pocus, The Babysitter on Netflix, and a few extra scary ones like An Incident in Ghostland. I’ll also be mixing up the last of the Williams Sonoma Witches Brew too.

Enough about Halloween plans - I’m excited for tonight! I had every intention of forcing everyone to eat a hearty Harvest bowl but a trip to Walmart this week changed those plans when I snagged a skull cake pan on sale. So I decided pizza pockets would be better received -I think the guys are happy with this dinner change.

Skull Stuffed Pizza Pockets

Halloween Snack Mix

Remember all those yummy desserts that were made? They were made in order with intention. The first night we had a popcorn bar followed by a candy apple dessert board and Graveyard cup of dirt. The leftover ingredients from each dessert was used to make the next weekends sweet treat. Perfect example was the crushed Oreos that were sprinkled on the popcorn, a layer in the cup of dirt, rolled on the apples, and now whatever is left will be added to the snack mix tonight. The only ingredient added will be Rice Chex tossed with leftover white and milk chocolate. The toppings will be leftover candy bits, nuts, and whatever else wasn’t all used up this month. If any of our Frankensteined Halloween mix is left I’ll store it in a Ziploc bag or plastic container and munch on it until October 31st. What a great way to use up ingredients in this economy!

Ingredients

  • Rice Chex Cereal

  • Leftover topping ingredients from popcorn, graveyard dirt, and caramel apple board: Candy, cookies, nuts, pretzels, marshmallows, etc.

  • Melted Chocolate, Peanut Butter, or Caramel Chips

  • Confectioners Sugar

Directions

  1. Grab a very large mixing bowl or ziploc bag. Add cereal equal to the amount of leftover toppings you have. Set aside.

  2. Melt chocolate, peanut butter, or caramel chips (I had white and milk chocolate chips). You can melt chips with the double boiler method, in the microwave, or jar placed in water bath.

  3. Add melted chips to dry cereal mix. Seal bag and start tossing until everything is coated with melted ingredients. If in a large bowl, mix well.

  4. Once all cereal and leftover toppings are coated quickly add confectioners sugar. You want the sugar to stick to the melted chips while still warm. Toss and enjoy!
